Sept 11, 2025. Day 706

Today I write not only as an American, not only as an Israeli, but also as a fellow human being.

The shock and horror weighing over us all feels awfully similar to September 11, 2001

Watching an act of terror on our screens, trying to make sense of what is happening

Unlike then, the people celebrating the death of an American civilian, celebrating the terrorists are indeed other American civilians. What has happened in the past 24 years that caused this much terrifying confusion among us.

September 11th holds a lot for me personally, I lost a very special person in my life as an indirect cost to the attack on the twin towers on that morning. He was a first responder, he ran towards the flames and destruction to help save lives, and that is what he did. As a result of that day and the days after, all the toxins he inhaled during the endless fighting and saving took his life way too soon. But what he would always say to me was “I should've died on that day so many different times, everyday I lived since was an extra gift.”

Terrorists kill a lot more people than the screen counts in the days that follow an attack. I know this to be true firstly as an American but in the past 2 years I've learned this very lesson again and again and again as an Israeli. We are still watching survivors, and first responders of October 7 take their own lives in the weeks, months and years following.

If you would have told me two years ago that my friends, the people I know and love would stand on their feet and cheer for terrorists and justify them I never in my life would have believed you.

Killing a human being because of who they are, what they stand for, or what their ideas may be is not justifiable! You don’t have to like everyone you meet, hell, you don't even have to like a single word they have ever said, you can disagree with who they are, what they stand for, and all of their words ever spoken. But as a human on this earth, as a fellow human being sharing this planet with you, as a human with a beating heart, with blood running through my veins

There is never justification for stealing another human's life.

And if you can not only justify but find yourself celebrating another human's death, whoever they are, please check yourself, look in the mirror hard and long and think how did I become one of the people I used to despise? How did you become one of the very human beings that other people don't feel safe around, that other humans need protection from!

September 11th 2025.

We remember the fallen heroes who fight terror, we remember the innocent victims of terror, we remember that the fight against terrorism is not over, we remember the 48 humans being held underground by terrorists as we sit here. And we will remember you Charlie Kirk for standing up and speaking your truth regardless of the threats you faced.
