3 soldiers fell in Gaza
3 soldiers took their own lives
Nimron Cohen marks his second birthday in captivity; only 21
Tonight, I watched the sun set again
I walk down to the beach with my dog
I stand there
Everyday
People running, walking, talking, and singing behind me
Only have one thought in my head.
Another day gone by
Another day, they aren't home
Another day, we failed them
My heart sinks at the dread of darkness
Of night
Do they know when night begins?
When tomorrow will start?
Do they know we count?
That we fight?
More badly than anything, I want to grab the sun in my hands, stop it from setting
I wish there were a way to stop time
I wish we didn't need to count anymore
I wish you were back home
Now, I watch the hours pass
In the dark
Waiting for the day to change
Dreading tomorrows arrival
But committed to its fight
So I won't have to watch another sunset
Without you.
